Dojo Success at the IKK National Championships
The dojo had strong performances in the IKK National Championships that featured competitors from IKK, IKKU, Chikara International, Welsh Karate Kyokushinkai, Kyokushin Budo Shakai, Nakmas and Tsuyoi Ryu.
Robert Salvi secured back to back titles in a dominate display this weekend winning his first bout by jodan mawashi geri and an unanimous decision in the final.
Mia Hawkins took her first full contact crown stopping her first opponent with jodan mawashi geri and then in the final scoring with another jodan mawashi before giving ippon with a punch to the body.
Elvin Vaskys won his first bout by ippon to the body and then in a thrilling see-saw final, he got ahead with a jodan mawashi to the head but his opponent Louis Sorge came back strongly scoring to waza ari with body punches.
Veteran Dave Martin unfortunately had to retire hurt when he was hit on a previous injury and his opponent was a deserved champion.
Greg Hitchings Memorial 2018 Results
Crawley KK sent a team to compete in last weekends Greg Hitchings Cup in Dunmow and had some good successes.
Dave Martin took 2nd place in the Senior Low Grade Kata.
Juniors Mia Hawkins and Amelia McGregor both fought well taking 3rd place in the U16 low grade category.
We should also mention Brandon Wise from Westcroft dojo who trains at Crawley twice a week won the Pee Wee category.
There was lots of good experience for Elvin Vaskys, Charlie Lee, Barney Moseley and Andre Loison Brito who took part in the junior categories.

Prizes For All Four Crawley Juniors
Another great result for our dojo youngsters representing England at the Belgium Youth Championships this weekend.
Robert Salvi and Ashley Black took gold, Charlie Denton silver and Mia Hawkins bronze in their respective categories.
Crawley Juniors to fight in Belgium
Good luck to Robert Salvi, Charlie Denton, Ashley Black and Mia Hawkins who will represent England this weekend in the Belgium Youth Championships. They will travel with the rest of the England team and Coach Sensei Wai Cheung to precipitate in this full contact event.
Crawley Girls Retain Their British Titles
Olivia Pickthall and Bethany Salvi won novice titles at the 42nd British Open at K2, Cralwey last weekend and cadet Robert Salvi came of age with a great performance in the Heavyweight Boys section taking 2nd place against much heavier opponents.
Bart Procter unfortunately lost his first fight and was feeling the effects of a cold whilst in the Cup of Europe Gabriel Barbu lost out to the Lithuanian winner in his opening bout and Blake Collins went out in the last sixreen against his Romanian opponent.

Congratulations to CKK fighters Ashley Black, Charlie Denton and Mia Hawkins who have been selected to compete for England at the Severn Challenge International event in Wales on the 8th September.

Outstanding Results at the English Open 2018
The Club had no fewer than six golds at the English Open in Dunmow this weekend along with a host of other medals.
Entering fourteen fighters Crawley achieved success in all categories ranging from Cadet, Novice, Adult and Veterans in this full contact and also in theU12, U14 and U16 fighting in modified rules for children.

Veteran Rob Young lost in his first outing to the eventual winner, Bethany Salvi could not fight as her opponent pulled out and Charlie Denton was unluckily too light for his weight category.

English Open – One Week to Go!
The dojo has fourteen competitors for the English Open on May 13th at Dunmow Sportscentre in what should be a good standard event with fighters from the BKK, WKO, IKK, IKKU, Seido, SJJ, IFK Ireland and Chikara International taking part.
