CKK Juniors selected for 20th Pilatus International Cup

We are delighted to announce that Crawley students have been selected as part of the England team for this year’s Pilatus Cup in Switzerland on the 23rd March , except where noted all will be fighting in Kyokushin Contact Rule. Full team below:

Success at the Scottish Open 2019

Blake Collins successfully defended his middleweight crown at the IKKU Open event. Scoring with a very sharp uchi haisoku geri for a ippon in the semi final. He took the final on unanimous decision in a tough bout.

Malcolm Scott cruised to victory in the mens heavyweight veterans category winning all three fights in quick fashion.

U18 Robert Salvi lost in the final to his nemesis Harry Clemo of Sandwich on a judges decision.

Sara Hagge from Sweden and Jessica Charsley Verwood who train with the CKK fight team both fought well coming 2nd and 1st respectively.

Crawley Pair Fly Off for the World Championships

Charlie Denton and Ashley Black fly to Varna, Bulgaria tomorrow as part of a 15 fighter Great Britain team participating in the KWU Youth World Championships and Adult European Championships.

Good luck to both the boys and the whole team.

Hawkins Defends her National Clicker title

Mia Hawkins retained her British Crown comfortably winning her division last weekend and Mikolaj Zabawa almost did the same but settled for 2nd place and the Boys most spirited fighter award.

The club as gained a 3rd place in the PeeWee 6-8yrs category with Andre Loison Brito getting his first trophy in his first national championships.

Dojo Success at the IKK National Championships

The dojo had strong performances in the IKK National Championships that featured competitors from IKK, IKKU, Chikara International, Welsh Karate Kyokushinkai, Kyokushin Budo Shakai, Nakmas and Tsuyoi Ryu.

Robert Salvi secured back to back titles in a dominate display this weekend winning his first bout by jodan mawashi geri and an unanimous decision in the final.

Mia Hawkins took her first full contact crown stopping her first opponent with jodan mawashi geri and then in the final scoring with another jodan mawashi before giving ippon with a punch to the body.

Elvin Vaskys won his first bout by ippon to the body and then in a thrilling see-saw final, he got ahead with a jodan mawashi to the head but his opponent Louis Sorge came back strongly scoring to waza ari with body punches.

Veteran Dave Martin unfortunately had to retire hurt when he was hit on a previous injury and his opponent was a deserved champion.

Greg Hitchings Memorial 2018 Results

Crawley KK sent a team to compete in last weekends Greg Hitchings Cup in Dunmow and had some good successes.

Dave Martin took 2nd place in the Senior Low Grade Kata.

Juniors Mia Hawkins and Amelia McGregor both fought well taking 3rd place in the U16 low grade category.

We should also mention Brandon Wise from Westcroft dojo who trains at Crawley twice a week won the Pee Wee category.

There was lots of good experience for Elvin Vaskys, Charlie Lee, Barney Moseley and Andre Loison Brito who took part in the junior categories.

Crawley Girls Retain Their British Titles

Olivia Pickthall and Bethany Salvi won novice titles at the 42nd British Open at K2, Cralwey last weekend and cadet Robert Salvi came of age with a great performance in the Heavyweight Boys section taking 2nd place against much heavier opponents.

Bart Procter unfortunately lost his first fight and was feeling the effects of a cold whilst in the Cup of Europe Gabriel Barbu lost out to the Lithuanian winner in his opening bout and Blake Collins went out in the last sixreen against his Romanian opponent.
