Isaac took 1st place in the Boys U16 LW category in Belgium Antwerp and will now go to Austria in a few weeks. In the final he winded his opponent with a back kick on his way to victory,
Nieve Sorge fought in there U16 Girls LW and improved on her recent performances with a credible 2nd place.
Our international federation held its World Kata Championships in Crawley with 23 countries participating in the event.
Crawley had two club members entered Blake Collins and Yusmin Khan who had solid performances making the last 16 with Blake finishing in 9th place and Yusmin 14th.
They also took part in the team with Amelia Canavan White from Hasting dojo finishing in 5th place.
GB finished at the top team with five golds, two silver and three bronze medals.
The club had Isaac Warnfeldt Rush and Nieve Sorge elected for GB to participate in the Valencia Cup. Isaac took gold winning his fights comfortably and Nieve Sorge picked up a bronze and she continues to improve on the international circuit.
On the 8th March Crawley Borough Council Shihan David Pickthall was added in their second round of athletes to the Sporting Wall of Excellence. He joins Hanshi Arneil who was on the first edition and dojo member and former Pole Vaulter Nick Buckfield.
It is indeed an honour to be recognised by the Borough as one of the 25 significant contributors to sport in the town.
Steve won his semi final fight by decision after dominating and scoring with a good Joan mawashi geri but lost out in the final to Andy Raised of IKKU Ronin.
Crawley Dojo won four golds and one bronze at the Tokei Full Contact Cup out of five athletes.
Mason Hennessy won the U11 BOYS LW, David Gonda won the U13 Boys MW, Nieve Sorge won the Girls U16 LW, Isaac Warnfelt Rush won the U16 Boys LW and Finn Buckfield took 3rd place in the U16 Boys HW.
Blake Collins and Yusmin Khan were part of the England Kata Team including Amelia Canavan White from Hastings who won the Dutch National Team title beating Wales into silver and Da Graca Dojo (Netherlands) into Bronze.
This event was part of the preparation for the World Kata Championships October 2024.
