Shihan – David Pickthall

Shihan David Pickthall started his Kyokushin career in October 1976 at the Crawley dojo and still trains at the dojo to this day.

He has represented both Crawley and Britain in both Kata and Kumite at all levels, both nationally and internationally. He passed Shodan in July 1980, Nidan in July 1982, Sandan in August 1986, Yondon in May 1996 and Godan May 2001. David was awarded his Roukodan in Oct 2009 and Nanadan in 2017.

After retiring from Knockdown fighting in 1995 he became an official for the organisation. David was the BKK Kata coach for the 1st and 2nd World Tournaments and then took over the role of Great Britain Knockdown coach from 2003-2013.

He was made Vice-President of the IFK in 2015 and took over as President of the World Federation in 2021.

He is also a member of the Executive Committee  and President of the British Karate Kyokushinkai.
