Success at the IKK English Open

The junior section performed very well at the English Open Full Contact Championships with four gold,one silver and one bronze.

Ashley Black once again won with two ippon victories by body punch. Elvis Vaskys also won both fights in quick fashion in a very impressive performance.

Brandon Wise and Antec Sobecki controlled all their bouts and look like they will be very good fighters in the future.

First timers Grace Emmett and Louie Warnfeldt Rush took second and third against more experienced opponents.


Black Wins Sutani Interantional Youth Cup

Both Ashley Black and Mia Hawkins were selected to represent England in this international event.

Ashley continued his successful year win a first place in his category at the IFK Belgium Sutani Cup. he won all three bouts by stoppage.

Mia started the event well but was hampered by a leg injury and defeated by a more experienced opponent so had to settle for bronze.

Crawley Fighters perform well at K2

Ashley Black and Robert Salvi both secured 2 wins in the U18 Tri-Nation International with England taking an overall silver losing 4 wins to 2 against winners USA and defeating Wales 4 win to 2.

Robert also took 2nd place in the British Open U18 Heavyweight division losing to his nemesis Harry Clemo of IKK Sandwich on decision.

Blake Collins fought extremely well narrowly losing in the quarter final of the Cup of Europe Middleweight division to the Russia Kyokushinkan champion on a 3-2 split decision.

Crawley Duo selected for the International Tri-Nations at K2

Ashley Black and Robert Salvi have been selected to represent England at the 43rd British Open Full Contact Championships at K2, Crawley on the 5th October 2019.

The event will have a U18 team event featuring England, Wales and the USA as part of the morning programme.

The afternoon session will feature fighters from 25 countries and tickets are available from the club or www.gbkyokushinkai.com

Four Golds at the Welsh Open

The dojo had a very successful performance at the Welsh Open Contact Championships.

Seven of the eight participants took trophies with four winning gold.

Robert Salvi U18 HW, Mia Hawkins U16, Charlie Denton U16 and Elvin Vaskys U14 won their categories with Robert also getting the fastest KO with jodan mawashi geri.

Blake Collins took 2nd place in the open mens MW and both Robert Young vets MW and Bart Procter U18 LW took third place

Ashley Black International Pilatus Cup Champion 2019

Ashley Black, aged 13 won the 20th International Pilatus Cup in Switzerland last week and there was more success for both Mia Hawkins, aged 14 and Robert Salvi aged 17 who both took 2nd place in their respective categories.

Fighters from Switzerland, England , Wales, Ireland and Germany took part in this Kyokushin rules contact event. Both the England and Wales teams enjoyed success in many of the categories.

Crawley Borough Council Honour Hanshi Steve Arneil

‘Crawley’s Sporting Excellence’ were recognised by the CBC and the Deputy Mayor on the wall at K2 Sportscentre.

Hanshi Arneil was honoured for his coaching contribution over four decades as chief Instructor at the Crawley Kyokushinkai Club in Tilgate.
